Thanksgiving

Our table with new benches made by Cuyler. I was finally able to break out my china, crystal and silver. I went to Sams and got fresh flowers for my pitcher and used cute pumpkin candles. It made me a little less homesick to decorate it like my Granny.

Cuyler diving into our FEAST. We had turkey, mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, stuffing, corn bread stuffing and orange jello. For appetizer we had stuffed mushrooms and shrimp (a tradition with my family). It was all soooo YUMMY!

We decorated the tree that following weekend. Cuyler got us a pre-lite tree from the Star Shopper. It was so nice to just put it up, fluff a little and plug it in.

Lydia and Josiah decorating the tree. I love how all the ornaments end up on the bottom!

This was our first Thanksgiving away from home, so sad. Since we were unable to go home we had two families from our ward over. It was so much to share some of our traditions with each other and really good food. After dinner the women went to see "Twilight", which I found to be disappointing. Imagination is always better. When we got back we had pumpkin pie, harvest cheese cake and a brownie chocolate mousse pie. The next morning Caleb became my shopping buddy. Since he has figured out Santa it was so much fun to have him help me shop for his brothers, sister and dad. Later that day we took the kids to "Bolt", it was really cute. Saturday we started decorating then went to the Scates' Thanksgiving at Cuyler's Aunt and Uncles. It was fun to be able to spend part of the holiday weekend with family. This meant more yummy food too! All in all it was a great Thanksgiving. We really missed our family, but had fun with our families new traditions mixed with the old.
